In June 1987, Roberto Rossi obtained his diploma with highest honors at the Conservatorio di Musica “G. Frescobaldi” in Ferrara under the guidance of Prof. P. Grisendi. In 1986 and 1987 he attended the Professional Qualifiactions for Orchestra courses (Italian Youth Orchestra) as principal trumpet, and successively auditioned and collaborated with various important Italian orchestras including the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino orchestra, the Tuscany orchestra, the La Fenice orchestra in Venice, and the RAI National Symphonic Orchestra in Turin. In 1989, Roberto Rossi was conferred the position of second trumpet in the Bolzano and Trento “Haydn” orchestra, and served in that poisition until 1994. Thanks to his successful studies with Professor G. Parodi since 1992, he was conferred the position of principal trumpet at the Tuscany orchestra in 1994 and was awarded second place in the competition for principal trumpet at the RAI National Symphonic Orchestra. He played leading trumpet for the “I Pomeriggi Musicali” Orchestra in Milan until 1997. Roberto Rossi has also been a faculty member as professor of Trumpet and Trombone at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato “G. Donizetti” in Bergamo for four years. Roberto Rossi currently serves as principal trumpet of the RAI National Symphonic Orchestra and collaborates with the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his symphonic work, he participates in many chamber music ensambles. He has recently performed the “Haydn” Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra with the RAI National Symphonic Orchestra and the Virtuosi Italiani. In 2001 he was appointed to the Faculty of the High Specialisation Music in Saluzzo as Professor of Trumpet.
